Certain structures within the eye manufacture a fluid called aqueous humour, which nourishes the structures within the anterior segment of the eye and leaves the eye through a meshwork of structures called the angle of the anterior chamber. This movement of fluid is a fine balance which results in and is required for their optimal functioning.
The normal pressure ranges from 11-20 mm of Hg.
Please Note......
- Raised intraocular pressure(IOP) alone does not constitute Glaucoma.
- IOP may increase due to various drugs(systemic or topical).
- Patients above 40 years, hypertensives and those with family history of Glaucoma must have the IOP measured during routine eye evaluation.
